First Things First

Do you use a special facial cleanser?
Are you loving it?
Is it all natural or has ingredients you are leery about?
Do you want organic and natural ingredients that clean gently but thoroughly,
and give your face a wonderful glow?
Do you have acne issues?
Not liking high-priced cleansers?
Want one that's easy on the pocketbook?

More Details About This Facial Cleanser

A few years ago I used baking soda to cleanse my face. I didn't care for it.
Organic bar soaps were fine in the shower but didn't improve my facial skin.
I searched online and found different recipes that use natural ingredients.
I chose this particular recipe and used it for one week.
Then I tweaked it to make it better!

I've been using my new and improved organic facial cleanser for over a month.
I'm excited to share it with you!

This DIY cleanser:
  • is pure and natural
  • uses simple organic ingredients
  • uses ingredients from your local grocery store
  • is in your budget
  • gives great results
  •  easy to make
  • makes my skin extremely soft and smooth
  • my skin color is better and brighter
  • redness diminished! awesome!
  • ingredients are not exotic
  • ingredients can be found in your local grocery store
  • LOTS of nutritional benefits (see below)
πŸ’“...This recipe is for you...πŸ’“
AND...I have a give-away at the end! (smile)
Here are the basic original ingredients -  but I changed them up a bit - so keep reading to find out how!
    • almonds (ground up)
    • uncooked rice grains (ground up)
    • full fat dry milk powder
    • rose water
There's no soap listed here, is there? (smile)

     How I Worked It Out

I switched out the almonds for almond flour as I already had some in the fridge.
     Same thing, you know?

TIP:  Always keep nuts and nut products in the fridge to keep them from going rancid or stale.

And it called for full fat powdered milk.

I couldn't find full fat regular powdered milk. You know - the kind your mother always bought when you were a kid? That kind is non-fat. I don't think full-fat regular powdered milk even exists. I believe in full-fat food.
Because it's healthier and that's what the original recipe called for. (smile)

But I wanted a nourishing facial cleanser. I wanted the full-fat powdered milk. You do want a  nourishing kind of facial cleanser, yes?
And sources say that cleansing your face with milk is very good for your skin.
I found full-fat instant coconut milk!
Here are the benefits of coconut milk and regular milk.

    • High levels of Vitamin C, E, B6, Iron, Copper, Magnesium
    • Promotes elasticity and flexibility
    • Prevents wrinkles, age spots, and sagging skin
    • Has antibacterial properties
    • Doesn't clog pores
    • Coconut fat prevents acne
    • Gentle exfoliation properties
    • Moisturizes
    • Treats sunburn and other skin ailments

    •  Contains lactic acid, Vitamin A, D, B12, B6, Biotin, potassium, and calcium
    • Deep cleans pores
    • Hydrates dry skin
    • Helps soothe sunburn
    • Reduces pigmentation - evens out skin discoloration
    • Heals acne
    • Tones, smooths out wrinkles
    • Exfoliates for a smoother and softer texture
Choose either instant "milk" product for this recipe,
but go with full-fat for exceptional beauty benefits!

The Whole Foods Market is where I found Instant Coconut Milk Powder that contains 5 grams of fat.

Next is the ground up rice grains. A pain to grind! Use rice flour instead!
Rice flour and Rose Water can be found at Whole Foods Market or at Bulk Barn (in Canada).
If you are hesitant about trying this cleanser and don't want to purchase a bag of rice flour or almond flour that will end up sitting in your pantry for months, go to Bulk Barn or other store that sells in bulk and purchase tiny amounts of the ingredients to see if you will like your new facial cleanser.
Before you make copious amounts of it!

    • Great exfoliant
    • Removes black spots
    • Brightens skin
    • Removes wrinkles and fine lines
    • Gradually improves skin tone
    • Safe and gentle for all skin types
    • Maintains your skin's pH balance
    • Tightens pores
    • Best toner for your face
    • Has anti-inflammatory properties
    • Reduces redness
    • Treats acne, dermatitis, and eczema
    • Lightens skin - evens out skin tone
    • Good for dark circles under the eyes
    • Also great for baking/cooking (I've used it!)

Here's the recipe for my original organic facial - no soap cleanser!
I will provide the tweaked version further in this post. You may like it better.
If you are allergic to nuts, then use my tweaked version.
    Try both and see!
Use measuring spoons for this recipe - not your usual soup spoons or "tea" spoons that you stir your coffee or tea with. Pretend you are baking a cake and need precise measurements. (smile)

    My Original Organic Facial Cleanser
    2 tablespoons Rice Flour
    1 teaspoon Almond Flour
1 teaspoon Instant Coconut Milk Powder
(mix dry ingredients together and store in an airtight container)
Rose Water or Water - several drops of either or both

    Morning and Evening
Sprinkle about a teaspoon of dry cleanser in your palm or take a large pinch with dry fingers.
Add a drizzle of water or rose water to make a thin paste.
    Spread over face and neck,
ever so gently rub, avoiding the eye area.
If you want to cleanse and nourish your eye area - like I do - very gently touch your eye area (eyes closed) with your fingertips to deposit some of the paste on your skin. Just touch! No rubbing!
Rinse off with warm water under the shower or with a wet washcloth at the sink.
Tone face with rose water on a cotton ball.
Finish off with an organic moisturizer of your choice.

    My Final Tweak!
       πŸ’› OAT FLOUR πŸ’›

After my initial experiment with almond flour and getting my cleanser slightly wet while using it, by the end of that week, my cleanser had gone rancid. Which is what nuts will do, so I switched out the almond flour for oat flour. Please note that I did not include benefits of almond flour since I chose to use oat flour instead.
    πŸ’“ I LOVE IT! πŸ’“

As you know, oatmeal is great for soothing itchy skin and exfoliating
It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties
Helps soften and moisturize the skin
     Reduces the appearance of wrinkles
Helps minimize scarring from chicken pox and acne

My New and Improved Organic Facial Cleanser
    2 tablespoons Rice Flour
    1 teaspoon Oat Flour
1 teaspoon Instant Coconut Milk Powder
(mix dry ingredients together and store in an airtight container)
Rose Water or water (several drops)
    (follow cleansing directions above)

    • Use on other parts of your body for super smooth skin - shoulders, chest, arms, back, feet!
    • Coconut oil (solid) treats acne - I use it as I occasionally still break out
    • Add a drop or two of an antibacterial essential oil to the cleanser paste for more acne prevention (tea tree oil, lemongrass, clove bud, frankincense, or lavender)
    • If you use almond flour instead of oat flour, keep your cleanser dry or it can go rancid
    • For removing makeup, especially waterproof mascara, use coconut oil on a cotton ball final tip...
Double, triple, quadruple the dry cleanser ingredients accordingly and store in an airtight container to use in the shower and/or store in a beautiful glass dish with a lid (to keep it dry) on your bathroom vanity. If you don't have a pretty container, go to your local thrift store. These stores usually have copious amounts of clear glass sugar bowls or some such beauteous container to hold your new organic cleanser. It will not only look beautiful on your bathroom vanity but the results your skin receives will put a smile on your face!
